Sarah at Christmas Eve Worship
IMGP0265.JPG

We hope you can join us on Sunday mornings for our blended worship service at 10:30am.

We know that worship can and should be expressed in a variety of ways, so any given Sunday you might hear piano, a guitar, or even a violin in morning worship.

Our musical worship is primarily traditional hymns; however, you may also hear modern contemporary songs such as "Mighty to Save" or "Blessed Be Your Name." In addition, we also feature special music by soloist, the Chancel Choir, or original songs that I compose.

Our Chancel Choir meets on Sunday afternoons, and we choose special music from many different traditions (anthems, Taize songs, the Psalter, foreign languages.ect)

Please feel free to contact me with any questions about our music ministry.

Adult Handbell and Choir Chime Choir

This group, known as "The Bells of Forest Hill," are a "special breed."  They have a real love of our Malmark bells and Choir chimes and gain great satisfaction from developing and sharing their skills, thus allowing the beauty of their music to inspire both themselves and others.

A pre-requisite for this group is the ability to read music.  We will teach you the ringing techniques.

For about 17 years, this choir has participated with 1,000 other ringers at the annual Area III Adult Handbell Festival Conference held in Virginia Beach each spring and more recently at Chesapeake and Suffolk, Virginia.  This special opportunity is always a treat for our ringers!

Children's Choir -- Joy Makers

This choir will continue at the beginning of the Music Ministry's new choir season to explore God's wonderful world reviewing music and stories from Sain Saën's "Carnival of the Animals".  They
will write and act out, with the help of props such as masks of animals, stories and plays.  They will learn songs relating to their pets and we'll begin singing the books of the Bible and songs related to Bible Stories.

They particularly enjoy making music using motion, finger plays, rhythm instruments, and special handbells.

On special occasions, they may share for our worship services some of the songs they have learned.

Youth Handbells

Since most of our youth are away in college or just graduated, we'll ring solos, duets, quartets -- a good opportunity to develop new skills and independent ringing.  Handbells are a fun medium for those who would rather ring than sing.  We have three octaves of Malmark Handbells and three octaves of Malmark Choir Chimes.
